most of the open house inspections are on

SYDNEY March 2011 (No, I wasn't in Japan ._.; )

I have been getting messages like “WHERE ARE YOU?” and “ARE YOU SAFE?” - I assume a lot of people thought I was in Japan ._.

When I heard the news about Japan, I was so shocked. Watching all these news footages of the buildings swaying for a good 5 minutes and the crazy tsunami hitting Sendai, I just really cannot imagine what it would be like if I really was in Japan. The growing number of casualties is mindblowing and there are still so many people missing…. What happened there is too surreal and too fast.

I really wish I could do something to help other than RT-ing messages, but for now:

So during my unexpected holiday (aka. sudden cancellation of a class right in the middle of my reading week), my dad made me fly over to Sydney to help find an apartment for my mother and brother.

Despite being brought up in Sydney for 50% of my childhood, I have not set foot in this city properly (i.e. not for transit) since 2005.

Excited family/friends waiting at the arrival hall is somewhat refreshing to see. Maybe it’s because Hong Kong people travel so much, you don’t see these scenes very often…if any at all actually. ((((;゚Д゚))))

Enough of the airport.

Most of the time spent was obviously on apartment hunting, which is nothing close to fun. I’m not even sure why there is such a lack of decent apartments for rent. Well, there is but the prices are just not reasonable and makes no sense.

I’m not sure if it’s just Australia, but they have set inspection times? SOME ARE 9 FRIGGIN AM IN THE MORNING (not to mention the fact that they are only open for a 15min duration). I cannot believe I have to wake up so early just to check out some stupid apartment which the rent is not even considered cheap. Worst part is, most of the open house inspections are on Saturdays and they’re ONE AFTER ANOTHER. I felt like I was doing the Amazing Race 凹〇 (…and wtf applications?! =_=)

In the end (which was on my 4th day?), we found this apartment in Pymble so my mission was completed.

(・゜▽゜)ьイェーイ!

Made a quick visit down South where I used to live on Friday.

It’s so weird seeing people fill up the tanks themselves…too used to being serviced, lol.
Reminds me of what (・゚ρ゚) once said about how lonely it was not having people run after the car saying “ありがとうございました!!!” and doing 90 degree bows in the US, lol.

Hurstville’s “chinatown” is so huge now.
